Fall Activities To Do With Your Dog

The air is crisp, and the leaves are changing. That could only mean one thing - it’s finally fall! Your pooch is likely just as excited about the season ahead with so many fun, dog-friendly activities you can do with the family this time of year.

Book a Camping Trip

Fall weather is the perfect time to go for a camping trip with your family - furry members included. Don’t know where to go? There are plenty of state parks and private campgrounds across the country that offer camping for any budget. If you’re looking for more of a “glamping” option, explore renting a cabin, camper, or RV. When you’re spending time in the woods with your dog, be extra aware of your surroundings. There are plenty of smells that they’ll want to sniff and other creatures that could be nearby. Keep an eye on your pup and make sure they remain safe in new surroundings.

Need a sturdy place for your pup to rest his or her head at night in the tent or by the fire? Our outdoor dog beds are ideal for any camping trip. These beds are water-repellent with a durable canvas cover that you can remove to throw in the wash after a weekend in the woods. Take a Hike

When the temperatures are lower, hiking is a pleasant activity if you’re looking for a little bit of exercise. If you’re looking to bring your dog along, make sure you know what the terrain looks like on the trail. Rocky roads or paths with gravel won’t feel particularly comfortable on their paw pads. A waterfall or swimming hole on your hike is a great place for your pup to take a break for a swim and cool off.

Paw balm would be a great addition to your backpack to make sure your dog’s paws are in tip-top shape before and after your hike. Visit an Apple Orchard

Wandering an apple orchard and picking apples is a great dog-friendly fall activity. Apples are even safe for dogs to eat! Just keep them away from the seeds or core of the apple. Otherwise, they’re a nutritious snack with fiber and essential vitamins that both you and your pup can benefit from eating.

Go Canoeing

If your dog loves the water, we bet they’d love to ride in a canoe with you. Canoeing is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the cool fall breeze and get a nice arm workout in too. The middle seat is perfect for a furry companion, too! Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it.

Find a Pumpkin Patch

Take your dog with you to a local pumpkin patch and have him or her sniff out the perfect one. Make it even more fun for them by hiding treats in the pumpkin patch and have them go hunting for them. When you’ve found the one you want to take home with you, take a photo with your pup! Having an impromptu photoshoot makes for a memorable fall activity.

Enjoy Oktoberfest

Is your city or nearby town hosting an annual Oktoberfest? Check and see if they’re dog-friendly before bringing your dog with you. There’s plenty of smells and people to greet when roaming the aisles of vendor tents.

Go Trick-or-Treating

Dress up for Halloween and go trick-or-treating with your pup! Even if you’re not heading out the door yourself, staying in and handing out candy with your dog at your side will brighten anyone’s evening who knocks on your door. Keep a few TY Pet Collection dog treats nearby for any other wet nose companions that may come up to your door! We even have pumpkin flavored chews if you’re feeling extra festive: https://trishayearwoodpetcollection.com/collections/pet-treats

Not into costumes on animals? Dress up your dog’s collar with a cute holiday or seasonal bandana instead. We’re sure the TY Pet Collection has a collar and leash set that would be great for a walk around the neighborhood while families are out and about.
